Glossary

Renewable energy guarentees of origin (REGOs)

Certificates which demonstrate that electricity has been produced from renewable sources. One REGO represents one megawatt hour of electricity. All EU member states are required to establish and maintain a REGO scheme1

Levy Exemption certificates (LECs)

Under the changes introduced from the UK Government, LECs will no longer be issued for renewable electricity generated after 1st August 2015. LECs were issued by Ofgem to generators to provide suppliers with the evidence needed to demonstrate that electricity supplied to UK business customers was CCL exempt
